He is very famous novelist in Japan, also all over the world. This book is his essay released in October 2007, and he calls it memoirs. He debut as a novelist in 1979 and began a long-distance running at the same time. Thereafter he continues "running" during a quarter of century, and it is spoken how a carrier as a novelist of his own linked with "running" in this book.
He also ponders the frustrations and revelations of age and shares his love for American literature, including Raymond Carver’s What We Talk about When We Talk about Love (1981), which inspired the title of this meditative book of life lessons, artistic revelations, and humble self-analysis.
I began a long-distance running three years ago too. My insight to running and his insight are very near, and this book was given me much empathy and thought-provoking sentence. If you are a runner, I expect that you take in something. If you like writing a novel, you may be inspired something about "writing" by this book. Even if you are not runner and not novelist, it is so too.
